In the year 2009 Autism Central started a project called 'Huisjes op de Autistrade' (Little homes on the autistrade). During the summer of that same year about 16 autistic people built little homes, under Els' artistic supervision. Prior to the start of the project, a campaign was set up to rally as much support as possible within the autism network.
About a hundred little houses of standard size and shape were sent around. They all carried the same message: "The basic shape may be the same but every house will be different, like every person within the autism spectrum!" This project was properly prepared. Autism Central partnered up with Els and organized informative sessions explaining the project to the public. Afterwards Els stayed in contact with various organisations and she mentored several people in her studio. In conjunction with the residents in 'De Hoeve' and 'De Vunder' one large house was constructed. (see 'Fragmentaria' under 'Installations').
All of this happened in preparation of the first ten years of Autism Central like the organisation is known today.
