"The Twelve"

Twelve sculptures of raku ceramics, plaster, and textiles tell the story of people on the move. They travel around and could also represent the twelve apostles in churches. In March 2023, they set off for the Beguinage Church in Brussels; they passed the Beguinage Churches of Antwerp, Essen, and Olen. In August 2026, they move to Sint-Jacobs Church in Ghent with a question mark for the next stop….

After residing for six months at the Beguinage Church (Begijnhofkerk) in Brussels, the sculpture collection continued its journey to Antwerp.

October 2024: the sculptures displayed behind bars in the Begijnhofkerk of Antwerp, which gives a powerful extra dimension to the arrangement.

The Twelve sculptures in the main church of Eindhoven

In the main church of Essen, they approach the Dutch border. They are there from December 2024 to October 2025. During this long stay, they wander through the church.

The Twelve sculptures in Sint-Jozef church Olen

They stood for almost a year in the Sint-Jozefskerk in Olen until they moved to Ghent in August 2026.

The Twelve sculptures in Sint-Jacobskerk Ghent

Until October 11, they are reunited again in the Sint-Jacobskerk in Ghent.

Each sculpture in the series has since been given its own name and individual character traits.
